[atrb=table,width,500][style=background: #811313; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; height: auto; width: 500px; padding: 0px;] Autumnfall carried the mice away from the pile of leaves and set them in a safe place. She closed her eyes and sent a thankful prayer to StarClan before scraping earth over the mice to hide them from any other predators. There were other animals here in the forest that needed food, and they would do anything to get it. She flicked her right ear, remembering the hungry hawk that had given her the little nick in her ear as she unknowingly stole its meal as an apprentice. She'd caught a squirrel just as the hawk was swooping down to take it, and it took a piece of her ear instead. Ahh, the ignorance of youth. Over the years a cat can learn how to respect the forest, not just use it as a place to survive, she thought to herself with a bit of a smile.
The ThunderClan deputy came back to her senses and lifted her head up into the air. She was picking through the scents of the forest again when she barely heard a, "Help, please?" from a ways behind her. It was Poppyfeather. As soon as she heard the medicine cat's voice, she turned and ran back to the river. "Poppyfeather?" she called just before catching sight of the she-cat clinging to the muddy bank of the river. Autumnfall bounded to the top of the bank and assessed the situation. The mud was slick where the medicine cat clung, and if she was to try and help Poppyfeather up, she would slip and fall into the river. Freezing river temperatures were never pleasant, and getting a chill after falling into a leaf-fall river was no good for a busy deputy. If Mintstar helps me, we could use a branch or something to hoist her out, she thought to herself. "Hold on a moment, Poppyfeather," she told her, calling for Mintstar, wherever their leader was.
